The National Library of Australia

The National Library of Australia always has something going on for families. From free tours to special school holiday activities and programs, there is a constantly changing calendar of events and exhibitions.

Wander through our Main Reading Room to view some of the building’s artwork and look through a selection of children’s books on display.

Come face-to-face with remarkable items from the Library’s collections in our Treasures Gallery, or explore the latest blockbuster displays in the Exhibition Gallery.

Take advantage of one of our free guided tours. Our trained volunteer guides have a passion for sharing their knowledge of the Library and its collections.

Don’t forget to browse our Bookshop for a souvenir, a special gift or your next great read. And if you need to recharge with a drink and a bite to eat, you can also visit our Bookplate Cafe.

Know what is happening at the Library before you visit. Check our opening hours and have a look at the What’s On page on our website to find out what events, special exhibitions and school holiday activities we have coming up for you to see and participate in.
